Backer Alpha Patch #3 - Explorator
The Technocult Explorator has arrived
Greetings Commander,
Today's update brings us the Technocult Explorator. It comes armed with the Displacement Field Emitter, a device that was originally designed to extract archaeological treasures from the remote corners of the galaxy, but has now been repurposed for combat.
We also have more bug fixes and balance tweaks, including adjustments to Heavy Frigate A, Heavy Frigate B, Assault Cruiser B, and Relic Freighter B.
We've been listening to the feedback on reward variance and how it can feel a bit swingy at times. We have taken some steps to reduce it in this patch. We will continue to keep an eye on this moving forward.

Balance Changes
- Reduced scrap reward variance
- Decreased price of Dark Matter Prisms
- Thrice-Cursed Reliquary drops Dark Matter Prisms instead of Dark Crystals
- Removed Dark Crystals from the game for now
- Adjustments to Siege Beam
- Adjustments to Heavy Frigate A, Heavy Frigate B, Assault Cruiser B, and Relic Freighter B
- Slightly increased base drive charge time
- Increased Claymore Missile munitions cost to 2
- Reduced Displacement Bomb charge time to 20 seconds
Stability
- Fixed crash from boarders blocked in assault sled failing to auto-recall
- Fixed issue with auto-recalling assault sled occupants when sled hasn't been launched
- Provisional fix for beam crash
- Provisional fix for system repair crash
- Provisional fix for oEFAreaAttackLow crash
Gameplay
- Fixed issue with starting scrap sometimes starting at 0
- Fixed bugs with consumable stacks
- Fixed Splinter Bombs module not working on temporary crew
- Removed psychomancies from "equipment" loot pool
- Fixed plague knife poison DPS issue
- Fixed issue with Technocult flux capacitors encounter
- Fixed issue with abilities sometimes having no cooldown
- Added 'charges per jump' to psychomancy tooltips
- Fixed Tower of Skulls effect not clearing at end of fight
- Fixed issue with Utmost Vanquished indicator in difficulty dropdown
- Added bug report instructions for catching the "crew stuck" bug
Visual Bugs
- Fixed ordnance hardpoints being visible during warp
- Fixed issue with area weapon target radius appearing on friendly cells
- Fixed visual issues with using Displacement Bomb to target self
- Fixed Purify not affecting "Cannot Rest" debuff
- Fixed Husk use animation alignment issue.
- Fixed Heavy Frigate B hardpoint issue
- Fixed assault sled depth issue
- Fixed issue with space battle backgrounds
- Removed debug info on score screen
Sound Bugs
- Fixed hangar button SFX issue
Typos
- Fixed typos in Barrier Relay, Shredder Payload, Summon Stygian Worm, and Siege Armor
- Fixed typo in effects that grant negative HP
How to Install the Patch
If you have already bought the game, you can install the latest patch by following these instructions:
- At the top right corner of the Itch page, next to your username, click the "down" arrow to open the dropdown menu, then click "My Library".
- Find Void War in your library and click the "Download" button.
- That's it! You now have the latest version of the game. Your save data will carry through automatically.* You can delete the old version of the game whenever you want.
*For those curious, your save data is not stored with the main game files and is actually located here: C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Void_War
