Backer Alpha Patch #2 - Throne
Greetings, Commander.
We have another new patch for you today. More bug fixes but also some balance tweaks, including changes to the way the Command Throne works.
In these first few weeks, our primary focus will be on stability and bug fixes. We'd originally said we were shooting for two patches a month, but when it comes to bugs and crashes, our feeling is that it's probably better to update a little more frequently than that. So you can expect the rate of patches to be a little higher when there are still lots of run-ending bug reports coming in. That said, we will try to sneak in some balance tweaks and content updates with each patch whenever possible.
It’s hard to predict exactly how long this stabilization period will take, but once things settle down, we’ll shift focus back to creating new content. Now, onwards to the patch notes.

Balance Changes
- Display current enemy system power in enemy system icon tooltip
- Removed level 2 command throne upgrade from most player ships
- Changes to command throne manning, drive charge, and evasion rules:
- Command throne can now be manned by anyone, meaning offensive boarding commanders no longer need to swap seats all the time
- Gain an extra 5% evasion when the Commander is manning the throne
- Commander must be on your ship to engage the subspace drive
- Reduced base drive charge time to make fleeing more viable
- When a friendly crew is in your command throne room, but not manning the throne (eg. repairing, in combat, stunned, etc), your ship will retain 50% of its evasion (same as level 2 autopilot; level 3 autopilot overrides this). This rule also applies to enemies and their command thrones.
Stability
- Fixed gossip crash
- Fixed crash/phantom crew caused by pressing Return to Stations while crew are loaded in Launch Bay
- Fixed crash from cleanup event of stacking effects
- Fixed duplicate room in Assault Cruiser A causing fake fires and other weirdness
- Fixed crash when firing Siege Beam with Carnage Optics
- Fixed assault sled tooltip crash
- Stability improvement for "stations save" function
- Provisional fix for crash from right-click move command while ship is exploding
- Provisional fix for crew tooltip crashing game when enemy hull is destroyed
- Provisional crash fix for mind controlled enemy crew trying to cast Aetheric Gate when enemy ship is exploding
Gameplay Bugs
- Fixed bug with consumables in choice rewards only adding 1 stack to inventory
- Fixed delivery encounter not rewarding first half of payment
- Fixed pause issue when closing map using Close Button
- Tower of Skulls now stacks
- Prevent shortcut from triggering Return to Stations before game starts
Visual Bugs
- Fixed projectile spawn positions
- Adjusted alignment of missile hardpoint on small empire enemy
- Fixed bonus text requiring blood crew to check for keyword
- Fixed Blood Spear description
- Fixed Blood Spear not dealing crew damage
- Fixed Soul Spear description
- Fixed low health alert sound to play for permanent units only
- Fixed interpolation issue on outrigger weapons
- Fixed keyboard shortcut issue with greyed out choices
- Capitalized "Munitions" in choice text
- Prevent Chaos Rift from teleporting to friendly ships (eg. Merchant)
- Fixed typo and auto-recall issue in rebel conspiracy encounter
- Fixed crew getting stuck when assigning move destination at moment of encounter plate spawn
- Fixed enemy module load issue
- Fixed duplicate weapons not displaying properly in enemy weapon bar
- Fixed background fleet sprites not clearing on reset
- Fixed incorrect "slot filled" display on crew equipment slot tooltip
- Fixed rendering issue with beams and force shields
Typos
- Fixed typo in "fusion pylons" encounter
- Amended terminology in descriptions to refer to "rooms" and not "cells"
- Updated old names for Bloodcurse
- Fixed typo in merchant talk
- Fixed typo in Guardian Protocols
